Today, more than ever, the path from university, to internships, to the company, is a terrain of important challenges for our collective ability to innovate and evolve and, consequently, for the future of Italy. We believe that it is at these stages that the creation of professional and human value is at stake, and that it is along this path that our culture is nourished by prior knowledge and at the same time reformed thanks to stimuli, research and innovation in the field.
Peoplerise, partner of Venezie Post, decided to undertake a path that involved different types of stakeholders and started last March 21st at Festival Città Impresa in Vicenza and then continued during the three days of Galileo Festival in Padua, with the intent to create guidelines for Universities, Internships and Companies.
We formed 3 groups with the aim of addressing a challenge proposed by the Sponsors of University-Bridge (internship)-Company and we gave them the opportunity to interact with entrepreneurs, students, teachers, managers and other relevant actors in order to develop guidelines that integrate different voices and points of view.
Along the way, the teams were supported by a Peoplerise coach to facilitate the process and a co-host to promote the initiative on behalf of the younger generation.
Let us now leave space for the young people to tell us how they lived this experience, starting with the UNIVERSITY AREA.
“The Galileo Festival, held in Padua, was a positive surprise for us.
university area
We participated in the Workshop “Co-Creiamo il futuro del lavoro” (Co-creating the future of work) in the University area, led by Peoplerise, with curiosity at the beginning and later with passion, both during the event and in the following days.
Our challenge, launched by the sponsor Monica Fedeli, professor at the University of Padua, was to create a proposal for a “student-friendly university“.
First of all we were impressed and fascinated by the modus operandi, as we young people do not have many opportunities to make our voices heard and experiment to find acceptable solutions that can improve the conditions for a stimulating study path.
The best feature of this workshop was the possibility for us students, who are often “isolated” in our university world, mainly consisting of books and lectures, to collaborate closely with valuable representatives of both the academic and business world.
sharing ideas and feedback
We had the opportunity not only to share our ideas, but to exchange and receive opinions and views from the various actors involved in this event. We therefore obtained immediate and continuous feedback on our work which in turn provided us with further food for thought.
These were definitely three days lived as protagonists of something that, unfortunately, we live every day a bit too much as spectators.
Moreover, what struck all of us in the University group the most was the trust and freedom we were given. Both in organizing but also in carrying out the project. In fact, our ideas were enhanced, increasing our overall enthusiasm. The atmosphere was one of constant encouragement and this instilled a sort of responsibility to give our best to what we were working on.
So the esteem of others became self-esteem and self-entrepreneurship, which was the common thread in the process that we experienced at a very high level.
To have the opportunity to interview the speakers of the festival was for us a sign of responsibility towards ourselves. We think that the preconception that “I’m young, no one listens to me” has been cleared.
the final results
We consider our final work to be of high quality also because of the affinity of the people within the team. There was no prevarication, nor divergences that were not transformed into a better idea, rich in different contributions. Even the simplest, and at first glance banal, ideas were incorporated into the proposed solutions that were forming. Seeing this ideal autonomous body grow, knowing that we are part of the group that in some way can be defined “creator”, has been extremely exciting.
Our work has therefore been satisfying. Also seeing it being appreciated, seeing a possible continuity, has contributed to our positive feedback. Our desire is accordingly to continue to take steps forward to make the initiatives proposed in our final paper practicable.
The main insights and ideas, as a result of our work, were the online social campus and the WeStart platform. The latter envisages the possibility of creating a space for university students, following in the footsteps of the Dutch iJam, mentioned and described at the Saturday morning conference on future-oriented organizations. Within our platform, students can submit their proposals or improvements to create a more student-friendly university. This initiative, which should be implemented on the web, would then allow the most voted initiatives to see the implementation of the proposed project that gathers the most support.
We Start from here, and you?”
